Extended Bio for Michelle Courtney Berry
Usui Reiki Master and Karuna Reiki® Master Teacher Michelle Courtney Berry, MPS (Communication, Cornell University) is the owner of Reiki Goddess and has practiced reiki since 2001. After receiving reiki for almost a year, Michelle was attuned to Reiki Level I in 2001 in the tradition of Usui Reiki Ryoho. As suggested by her Reiki Master Teacher, in the tradition of the Usui system brought to the U.S. by Hawayo Takata and suggested by the founder of reiki, Dr. Makao Usui http://www.reiki.nu/history/takata/takata.html and http://www.reiki.nu/history/usui/usui.html), Michelle went into deep meditation and contemplation and gave herself reiki for 21 days as she focused on increasing her spirituality in Level I-Shoden.
After this time of contemplation, Michelle shared reiki with over 100 individuals in the year 2000, eventually opening her own practice shortly after September 11, 2001. The following year, (2002), she was attuned to Reiki Level II Practitioner (Okuden), in which she focused on inner teachings, the chakra system, auras and meridians, personal healing, distant healing and ancient teachings. During this time she expanded her reiki practice with deliberation and compassion. In 2003, Michelle became a Reiki Master in the Usui Natural System of Reiki (Shinpi-den). In 2006, Michelle became a Karuna Reiki® Master Teacher, licensed by the International Center for Reiki Training in Karuna Reiki®.
This form of reiki is a powerful and peaceful form of reiki taught exclusively to ReikI Masters. Karuna Reiki® helps break negative patterns, restores balance, releases fear and encourages peace. Karuna Reiki® is offered exclusively by teachers licensed by the International Center for Reiki Training.
In 2010, Michelle became a Reiki Master Teacher in the Usui Method of Natural Reiki Healing. Michelle holds a Master's Degree in Communication from Cornell University and a dual-BA degree in English, Literature and Rhetoric and Political Science from Binghamton University, where she was the Commencement Speaker. She has opened for His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, Dr. Maya Angelou and Howard Zinn. She resides in the Finger Lakes Region with her family.
