Reiki Goddess is based on the philosophy that each of us has an innate wisdom, a powerful purpose, a deep inner beauty, and the ability to change the lives of others in remarkable ways. Owner Michelle Courtney Berry's Grandmother Annie grew herbs, farmed, tilled the land and laid hands on her daughter after doctors said "there's no more hope." Through prayer, natural medicine and laying on of hands, Grandma Annie helped restore her daughter and Berry's Aunt Irene to full health.
Berry says, "For a long time I had a variety of chronic conditions (prior to receiving and learning reiki). Although I've not taken much medication in my life, I found myself relying more and more on over-the-counter aids and occasional prescriptions for depression. But after learning reiki, I became deeply invested in treating root causes rather than symptoms. Additionally, I began receiving acupuncture, chiropractic, massage and reiki and exploring non-traditional psychotherapy combined with intelligent homeopathy. Now, I rarely take any form of medication whatsoever and I am rarely, if ever, depressed."
By offering reiki and a vibrant healing vision, Berry seeks to honor her Grandmother Annie's memory and Ms. Berry's own African, Cherokee and Irish ancestral beliefs and practices. She writes, I recall my Grandmother as a strong woman of great power, deep faith who drew upon the wisdom of ancestors to carve a spirited path. Though born in the late 1800's, she was a modern woman in a time when women faced greater restrictions and oppressions. May she know that I loved and cherished her immensely and may my healing practice be in honor of her.
At Reiki Goddess, we believe that managing stress requires honoring and loving our clients as individuals with different needs and varying ideas and ideologies. Most specifically we believe that reiki energy helps bring balance, focus and needed alignment. Although anyone is welcome to come for reiki healing treatments, we ask that clients honor and respect all women.
