Reiki's Origins
Dr. Mikao Usui (ME-COW, OO-Sue-E) revived the ancient practice of hands-on healing in the form of reiki in the late 1800's in Japan. One of his many important contributions to modern reiki and its usage, was his teaching of Usui Ryoho or Reiki Ryoho to numerous students thoughout Japan. One of his students, Mrs. Hawayo Takata is credited for bringing reiki to the West.
Reiki is a Japanese name consisting of two words: Rei and Ki, which together mean "spiritually guided" (higher knowledge) and "life force energy." Simply put, reiki is a technique for relaxation and stress reduction that is administered by "laying on of hands" by a reiki practitioner. Some refer to reiki as tapping into the universe's "spiritual essence" or as "spiritual energy in action."
Reiki practitioners believe that the Universal Life Force Energy animates us and is found all around us. Reiki practitioners tap into or channel this "universal life force energy" and share it with recipients or clients. Ultimately, reiki is believed to help individuals bring their mind, body and spirit into harmony.
As the client rests (in comfortable clothing) on a massage table or mat, The Reiki Master uses light touch to help your body heal itself. Pain, stress and tension melt away as reiki energy is shared in a safe, healing way that soothes, nourishes, and relaxes you from head-to-toe. Some feel that reiki treatments balance the chakras and revitalize energy within the body. Experiencing reiki is different than receiving massage, yet both massage and reiki, as well as others like acupuncture, chiropractic and regular care by a physician are all considered complementary and deeply beneficial practices for your overall health.
Session prices vary from $65-$105 depending upon the length of the session and your particular treatment needs. Please click on the link "Service Menu" to learn more about our different reiki treatment sessions.
